Dissecting Mouse

This is what I did during my Biology Practical this week. At the begin, the lab officer already made them fainted, then only took them out of the cage, no chance to play with them...after the demonstration of my lecturer, then we start to dissect it ourselves...

I took out one of them from the box and placed on a piece of wax, nailed their hand with pin, pulled up their skin with forceps and cut a tiny hole with the scalpel, then opened up it's stomach by scissors.

Shaved off their connective tissue between the skin and the smooth muscle then nailed again....for easier to make observation....then cut off the rib cages and I found it's heart was stop working ad...but my friend's one is still pumping...first time saw how a heart pumping by using naked eyes...my lecturer said that most of them died not because of we were dissecting it,

it's because the lab officer put too many chloroform to them

so they faint and terus die....XD

The main purpose of dissecting the mouse is to have a view of the mammalian digestive system, reproductive system and also respiratory system. So at the last part, we pulled out all their small intestine and colon and whatever things that involve in those systems...

as shown below....at the end, we packed up the dead body with newspaper and leave there for the lab officer to settle it.
